You would be working with Sica Schmitz, who is a rising star in social entrepreneurship and ethical fashion, as well as the recent winner of the LA Sustainable Business Council Award. Internship Opportunity with Bead & Reel
We are heading into our 3rd annual Fair Trade Fashion Show Fundraiser with the non-profit Free the Slaves on July 29th, 2017 in Los Angeles. This year's focus will be on fair trade fashion's role in ending human trafficking, told through an inspiring evening including a cocktail reception, panel discussion, and of course fashion show.
The internship will be from June 1 (flexible start date) to August 31 for 10 - 15 hours per week. Work can mostly be done from home with occasional meetings or projects in my Lincoln Heights studio (outside of downtown) and errands around Los Angeles. Full days will be required July 26 - 29 as well as July 31 but otherwise work hours are flexible.
This internship will cover:
- Event planning
- Social media / marketing
- PR / press
- Soliciting and securing sponsorships
- Collaborating with non-profit partners, brand partners, sponsors, vendors, and volunteers
Requirements for this position:
- A car
- Self motivation
- Good with deadlines and time management
- Able to lift up to 50lbs (there may be some clothing, food, or drinks that require lifting)
- Efficient
- Positive and polite attitude
- 3-month commitment
- Enthusiasm for fair trade and social justice
While this internship will be mostly focused on the Fair Trade Fashion Show Fundraiser there may be some tasks relating to our various other non-profit collaborations and projects including with the Downtown Women's Center, Mercy for Animals, and Fair Trade LA.
